Dr Nimisha Kumar is a Senior Consultant Psychologist & Trained CBT Therapist. She is also the Founder President of the Indian Association for CBT (IACBT).
She has a Masters in Applied Psychology (Clinical Specialization) and a Doctorate in Psychology from University of Delhi. She started her career at All India Institute of Medical Sciences in 2001 as a Research Assistant in ICMR sponsored research projects. She received the prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship for a Master’s degree in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy in 2003 at the University of Derby, United Kingdom. She completed the degree with a distinction and won great accolades at the University with her CBT Skills. Her supervisor Dr. Michael Townend, a BABCP accredited CBT supervisor and Senior Lecturer at University of Derby continues to guide and mentor her.
She has worked at prestigious institutions like Maulana Azad Medical College, Sitaram Bhartia Insitute of Science and Research, and Jamia Millia Islamia. Currently she is posted as Associate Professor in SGT University, Gurugram.
In 2016, Dr. Nimisha set up the Indian Association for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (www.iacbt.org) as a registered society in India with her untiring efforts and passion for CBT. She continues to head the Association, which has now become a member of the Asian CBT Association and the World Federation for CBT, based in New York, USA.
Dr. Nimisha has over 10 years’ experience in teaching and training, over 15 years’ experience in research and clinical practice. She has authored significant papers, edited books, organized many International conferences, guided Masters and Doctoral level research work and served as resource person for numerous workshops, seminars and training programs related to CBT and Counseling Skills. She has strong global ties with a host of International Psychologists, CBT therapists, Trainers and Researchers based in UK, USA, Australia, South-East Asia.
